Visit to Monasterboice

This is an old monastic site a few miles from Boyne that has the two most famous high crosses in Ireland. One was erected by Muiredach in the second half of the ninth century, covered with a variety of biblical images from the Hebrew and Christian testaments.  

The second high cross is the tallest in Ireland standing 20 feet high.  It houses some of the best sculptured images of scripture with both the Hebrew and Christian testaments represented.
